Horner fears no vacancy at Red Bull

The announced departure of Newey has made many people wonder whether more members of the technical staff will follow in his footsteps. Horner says he is not afraid of that. "No, not at all. I mean, our key pillars are in place for the future. The technical team are all on long term contracts. We've been having to think about this moment for some time," he told Sky Sports.

Someone already frequently mentioned as a possible successor to Newey is current technical director Pierre Waché. However, there is no question of that according to Horner. "No, no, no. Everything stays the same. Adrian's role was unique. I mean, Adrian is unique. So he drew on a drawing board and the way that he operated was, was totally unique," the Red Bull team principal continued.

"He didn't have anybody report to him. He was a free spirit within the organisation, so the organisation stays exactly as it is. We've got strength in stability and strength in depth and, you know, we're grateful for the, for the time and the shape that he's left the technical team in," he added. Asked if he is confident of retaining the rest of the technical team, Horner replied firmly: "Absolutely yes."
