Lewis Hamilton qualified for the 2024 Miami Grand Prix in eighth place on the grid. The seven-time world champion made it out of Q2 in P3, but then in the final session, both of his laps were slower.

While Hamilton was happy with how his car felt during Q2 on Saturday out of nowhere. "Yes, I thought the first two qualifying sessions worked generally better. Q2, the car felt mega in Q2 all of a sudden," he told F1TV.

Then, minutes later, the 'mega' feeling was lost. "But then we got to Q3, and it disappeared again. So that's the first time it's really worked in Q2 this year, I would say," Hamilton continued.

What could cause more headaches for Mercedes is that they don't know how the performance just was not there in the final session. "We don't know. We really, really don't know. I couldn't tell you, honestly," Hamilton concluded.
