Gasly believes he's "too aggressive" with RB15
So far during the current Formula 1 season, Pierre Gasly has been way behind Max Verstappen. Gasly moved closer to his new teammate during the Chinese Grand Prix, but he was still eight-tenths down after qualifying.
The Frenchman believes he is being "too aggressive" with his car as he exits the corner hence why he is losing time.
"It's not so much turn-in. Most of the time it's [the] mainly exits, just putting the power down. I'm sliding too much. I think it's being a bit too aggressive with the car, asking a bit too much to the rear axle so stressing the rear," Gasly said in an interview on racefans.
"[I’m] a bit too aggressive so there are things we try to improve to go around it and try to make it a bit better through these areas.”
China was Gasly's first appearance in Q3 as a Red Bull driver. The 23-year-old isn't blaming the car though, he says he must adapt his own driving style as he becomes more accustomed to a top team.
“I think there are still areas where we can make it a bit more suitable to me, and also on my side to basically adapt my driving to the car to extract more performance," he added.
