Hamilton: "I don't like it when someone messes with my mind, because I'm strong"

Lewis Hamilton is open about the fact that his childhood wasn't always easy. Besides the fact that his father had to work hard so he could race, he had a hard time at school and was bullied. Hamilton himself says that this has only made him stronger.

Everything changed for him when he stepped into a kart for the first time. "I had a strength that I didn't know I had. The growth I've made in being able to put my elbows out, stand up, not be pushed over and bullied, was really empowering," Hamilton said in an interview with Wired.

Hamilton is grateful for difficult childhood

Hamilton's father had multiple jobs at one point so he could finance his karting career. "I think what makes me the driver I am today, yes it’s the ability, but I would say it’s the hunger. I’m so grateful for it, man. If we didn’t have that struggle I couldn’t drive the way I do today."

Hamilton says he doesn't think having a sports psychologist is necessary, although this is something more and more athletes are using. "I don't like the idea of someone trying to mess with my mind, because I'm strong, and I know I'm strong enough and capable enough. I’ve done it my whole life," Hamilton said.

Lewis would be nothing without the work put in by Schumacher! Lewis is also a huge Hypocrite but not even Lewis can see that because he is so deluded with grandeur

Hugh Phillips 01 April 2021 at 23:47+ 20

Sadly Hamilton will bear the criticism of the 20 percent who hate his accomplishments, the 10 percent he hate him because of his hue and 10 percent who are just sheep who don't do their own research before reaching a conclusion. He's carried himself well and to be knighted now is amazing as his character must be beyond reproach...

Well said mate. i often laugh at people who dislike Lewis for being a tax dodger. Yet Lewis pays more tax in the UK than 99.9% of the UK population. He's in the top 5000 tax payers. So all the people that dislike him for that actually dislike him for no reason.

I guess difficult childhood is open to interpretation... its part of one's experience that cannot be denied. There are vhildren from very wealthy..multi millionaires homes who experience difficult childhoods bcoz the parents are not around n abused by carers, or quarrels n fights, tense n overworked parents who take their business stresses out on them or divorce etc.. There are those in normal homes.. but abused n bullied outside.... Others are exposed to poverty.. only the person who is experiencing these knows his struggles... Traumas are real n those that acknowledged lead to quicker recovery or else suicide becomes the only last escape ....

Everyone feels their own, but when you become an adult you should figure out if your childhood was really difficult or not. In case your difficulties were nothing, compared to those who had a really difficult childhood, you should have the dignity and stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Fez Nene 02 April 2021 at 24:30+ 17880

On the contrary... he is not talking as a victim here... he says his difficulties made him strong. . It's an interview, he's answering questions. It's not his job to weigh whose struggles are more than his... bcoz he's talking abt himself... some kids hoing through bullying n racism would be empowered by him sharing... i don't get your arguing his outlook n strength he has now... who is hurting by this.. some kids or adults who can't afford seeking professional help can gain from this...

mp599 02 April 2021 at 24:35+ 11881

I was generally speaking. Must be discussed what are real difficulties...

Fez Nene 01 April 2021 at 20:59+ 17880

I don't like the idea of someone trying to mess with my mind, because I'm strong, and I know I'm strong enough and capable enough. I’ve done it my whole life,"... best therapy is figuring things out yourself good for you bcoz therapy is not for everyone... Nothing toughens you like life if you have a strong united family support that's not bitter n blaming the world...

as a clinical psychotherapist it's very interesting to read quotes like this. it must be my bubble, but essentially all psychotherapists (unless there is a fundamental neuro-biological issue) do is help people with perspective and clarity. i truly thought the age of people thinking we "mess with their minds" or seeing us as "shrinks" was over.

No, it's not over, because very many times he's right. Especially with high dollar athletes, there's an incentive to insinuate oneself into the lives of these athlete's and create problems where there are none. For a mentally strong person (supposedly) of a Lewis Hamilton or Michael Jordan or Tom Brady there is little reason other than pressure to perform to worry over. At the VERY top tier of athletics there's no reason to feel any pressure at all at this point. They've achieved beyond their own expectations or any others for that matter. The only derogatory moments an athlete like Sir Lewis would have are haters and Racists of which he has no reason to feel intimidated because no one criticizing him is anywhere near his success level. That man is a future Billionaire. His ability to remove his obstacles will soon be terrifying. If he would need any counseling at all it would be to counsel restraint of which he's shown to already have. What need would he have for an outside party to tear that confidence down?

Not to forget that not all are ethical.. especially in this day of anti depressants pill popping age... now there are therapy to wean people out from pill popping addictions...

James McClellan 01 April 2021 at 21:46+ 140

Oh yes, the Very Real fact of the head game to prescribe medications instead of good counsel. As well, most of the medications are a detriment to the psychological make-up of these athlete's.

Well said. I totally agree. His Dad was magnificent in teaching him what he should focus on and let the haters be haters. Lewis, he said, Do your talking on the Track". That kid has been talking since he was 5 years old. Kudos Anthony Hamilton, the best "Shrink" for his son Lewis! He must be so proud!!!

It's unethical, but possible, to induce Pavlovian responses in a human individual who's oriented to have faith in someone (while it's not when the individual doesn't allow that power, refusing to faith). One of the proof is how cheerers react, start barking and drooling as soon as their master pokes them.

Stereotypes (shrinks) will not dissipate swiftly Neil (we must clutch them). We know Lewis is strong, nevertheless to allege that Sciences (Neurosciences ,Neurology,Psychology, Physiatry, Psychiatry, etc) are messing with your mind ,is not less than foolish. I savvy various have had bad experience with therapists, but if knowledge creates problems "we" are not solving them by ignorance. Lewis should know better, Science helped his dear brother ( a very virtuous chap) with Cerebral palsy.

Once gained the (blind) faith of followers, the influencer can write the most incredible crap, which for them will be truth, anyway. We are living in a system where popularity gives authority to characters without competence and knowledge of what they say (or better said, to have popularity they say what most people want to hear, even if it is nonsense). If you are smart, opportunistic, manipulative and unscrupulous, from popularity (and your followers themselves) you can also make a lot of money.

Carolyn Peterkin Woody 02 April 2021 at 02:47+ 7900

From what I understand his brother was born with the ability to never complain about his condition and didn't let it stop him. Some families are strong like that I have heard Lewis talk about his brother with admiration, His brother never, ever complained!

The daily dose of personal marketing for cheerers (whose addictions and dependencies are the goal).

Hamilton: "I don't like it when someone messes with my mind, because I'm strong" If you are strong, then why care at all? ❌

He's a caring person I guess. That's why the likes of Newey, Moss, Ecclestone, Brawn, Frank Williams, Niki Lauda ALL say or said he's a lovely kind person. They all know him, so i take their words seriously.

He is as lovely as you are and like you cannot see stealing when it comes to someone else's money. How much are you being paid to be working full time here defending the satan and his soldiers? Don't sell your permanent afterlife for the enjoyment of this temporary exam life. ?

Hmmm.... again, yoi speak total trash. Jt was something like 55% voted to remain in the UK. I've heard your not the best with numbers, so let me tell you, 55% is larger than 45%. That means more people voted to stay.

You seem to have forgotten or deliberately ignoring the 97% YES and yet your satanic government went with the 3% NO.

hmmm..... the scots get a vote on independence..... they vote to stay. so that shows what you know. So where are you from again.....?
