Team’s scores for the Azerbaijan GP | Red Bull towers above the rest
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing was by far the best team of the weekend in Azerbaijan. With two podium finishes, the racing stable could be very satisfied with its own performance. Ferrari was the most disappointed, as both drivers had to retire with car problems. What marks do the teams get on their reports?
Red Bull Racing | 9.5
The big winner of the race weekend in Azerbaijan was Red Bull Racing. The Austrian racing team took full advantage of Ferrari's disappointing race and captured the first two final positions. With that, Red Bull did excellent business in the world championship and experienced a virtually flawless weekend.
Ferrari | 3.5
Ferrari, on the other hand, had just the worst weekend of the season. Whereas the Italians seemed to be on their way to a world title battle with Red Bull at the start of the racing year, the race team now has to pull out all the stops to avoid falling further behind. For the time being, Mattia Binotto 's team has enough on its hands.
Mercedes | 6
Besides Red Bull, Mercedes also stepped in when Ferrari dropped out. The Germans suffered greatly from porpoising, but still managed to take the two positions behind Red Bull. At the same time, the race produced two drivers who stepped out of their cars broken. For the short term, therefore, things are looking good, only the next few months need to change quickly.
McLaren | 6.5
McLaren could be quite satisfied with the race in Azerbaijan. The British formation has been working hard all season to improve the performance of the cars. With an eighth and ninth place finish, the team picked up some points for the championship, although it still has a long way to go.
Alpine | 7.5
Fernando Alonso showed in Baku once again how much experience he has. The Spaniard did not stand out during the race, but still managed to secure a seventh place. Esteban Ocon also finished in the points, so Alpine was able to register the necessary points again.
AlphaTauri | 6
AlphaTauri had a race of two extremes. Following on from last season's strong showing, Pierre Gasly managed to cross the finish line in fifth place. Yuki Tsunoda, on the other hand, finished far outside the points after an unfortunate rear-wing issue.
Aston Martin | 7
Sebastian Vettel put in perhaps an even more handsome performance by securing sixth place. The Aston Martin car is showing increasing improvement for the coming race weekends, although the last place of Lance Stroll says enough about the state of the team.
Haas | 4.5
For Haas, the weekend in Baku was not exactly positive. Kevin Magnussen crashed out with engine problems, leaving it to Mick Schumacher to make something happen. Again, he did not manage to get anywhere near the points, so all is still not well with the stable.
Williams | 4
Williams was also far from the points. Nicholas Latifi could not shake off the criticism, leaving only Stroll behind. Alexander Albon may have grabbed a twelfth place, but could not surprise with that either. As a result, it still does not break free from last place.
Alfa Romeo | 5
Prior to the race in Baku, Alfa Romeo could look back on a successful start to the season. In Azerbaijan, however, the racing stable was less fortunate. The team of Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou was left empty-handed. The Chinese driver didn't even manage to make it to the end of the race.
