Oliver Bearman wins F2 sprint race in Qatar

Oliver Bearman has won the F2 sprint race in Qatar. Isack Hadjar looked set to take the lead in the F2 Championship, but made a blunder late in the race which caused him to drop to fourth place. As a result, Gabriel Bortoleto retains his lead in the standings with two feature races and a sprint race remaining in the season.

What happened during the F2 sprint race in Qatar?

Hadjar led for the majority of the race and looked set to take a three point in the standings. But drama late on flipped that outcome on its head. Bearman attacked at turn one and overtook Hadjar for the race win. Later in the lap, the Red Bull French-Algerian racing driver tried to catch back up but made a mistake. He lost control of the car, spun around and lost several championship points.

This lifted Crawford and Verschoor to P2 and P3 late on. The race ended under the safety car. Hadjar's rival for the title Bortoleto, who will join Sauber in F1, finished in sixth place.

Both Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Kush Maini crashed late in the race. Both drivers could not continue. This brought out a safety car, which allowed Bearman to cruise to the win.
