Hamilton shares one final farewell message to Mercedes: 'It's been real!'
After crossing the finish line in Abu Dhabi in fourth position, Lewis Hamilton completed his final F1 Grand Prix weekend with Mercedes. After a 'farewell tour', the seven-time world champion said goodbye to the German team for the final time on social media.
After more than a decade, Lewis Hamilton is leaving Mercedes. After he won six drivers', seven constructors' titles and many more Grands Prix with the team, the Briton will now join Ferrari.
Hamilton did not drive for the Scuderia on last Tuesday at the Pirelli Tyre Test, as he had a special 'farewell tour' with the German team. After taking time to visit Kuala Lumpur and Stuttgart, the driver now posted his final farewell message on social media.
"This is really it. After Abu Dhabi, after Kuala Lumpur, and after Stuttgart it comes to an end here. This has been my home. To the thousands of people who work at Brackley and Brixworth, you have been friends and teammates and I can’t thank you enough for all the hard work and support. It’s been real," Hamilton writes.
