Hamilton hits back at Wolff's shelf life comments: 'Other F1 drivers are nothing like me'
Lewis Hamilton has hit back at his critics who've claimed the seven-time world champion is past his prime in F1 due to his age and states he's unlike all other drivers in Formula One's history.
Last year, Hamilton announced he would be leaving Mercedes for Ferrari, which sparked a lot of debate, with Mercedes team boss, Toto Wolff saying about the now Ferrari driver that he also has a "shelf-life", suggesting that the Briton had already reached it. "Don’t ever compare me to anybody else," says Hamilton in an interview with Time Magazine.
"I’m the first and only Black driver that’s ever been in this sport," adds a resolute Hamilton "I’m built different. I’ve been through a lot. I’ve had my own journey. You can’t compare me to another 40-year-old, past or present, Formula One driver in history. Because they are nothing like me."
Hamilton reveals why he believes he's still got it
Much like rival and fellow quadragenarian F1 driver, Fernando Alonso, Hamilton is still to father any children and take a wife, rendering his focus naturally to be centered around one thing. "I’m hungry, driven, don’t have a wife and kids. I’m focused on one thing, and that’s winning. That’s my No. 1 priority," concluded the seven-time world champion.
