Hamilton encouraged by 'positive signs' from the SF-25: "Making strong progress"

Lewis Hamilton finished in P2 today during the second day of testing in Bahrain, edging out Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc and leaving Mercedes' George Russell and his replacement, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, clear off by around four tenths. The seven-time world champion now assesses the Scuderia's Thursday in the Middle East.

"It's been another positive day for us in Bahrain," states Hamilton in a Ferrari press release. What is the purpose behind Ferrari's run plan during winter testing? Hamilton explains.

"We’re making strong progress in understanding the SF-25 and learning how to get the most out of it, and the reliability is good so far which is a really positive sign," adds Ferrari's new driver.

Hamilton looks ahead "to the final push"

The teams encountered an unexpected weather at the Bahrain International Circuit, which made it a less than ideal setting for testing ahead of the season start in two -weeks' time. But this has not proved a problem for any of the teams, including Ferrari, at least according to the sevent-time world champion.

"We didn’t get to do as much running as we hoped because of the weather, but we have more time on track tomorrow to work through our programme and to build even more comfort in the car. I’m really enjoying working with the team and we’re all looking forward to the final push tomorrow," concluded Hamilton positively.
