In Belgium Verstappen gave his cap away, now he explains why

After the race at Spa-Francorchamps Max Verstappen gave his cap away to a marshall. This happened to be filmed by a camera and soon went viral. Verstappen received a lot of praise, it is after all a sympathetic gesture. On Thursday, Sky Sports asked Verstappen what the reason was for this.
It's the little things
At first it seemed to be a spontaneous gesture, but that is not entirely true. Verstappen had met the man in question before, but had to disappoint him. "I met him the night before when I came back from a barbecue and he asked for something. I said: ‘I don’t have anything, I’m going to my motorhome, but probably I have something for you tomorrow if you are in the paddock’."
"And then of course, I did my race and then I saw him walking out after I don’t know, we had the press conference I think. So I saw him standing there and I was okay, here you go, you got my cap." And the marshal was very happy about that. As the interviewer points out in his question, it's these little things that do a person good.
Verstappen agrees: "It’s exactly like you said. It’s the little things which can make someone very happy and of course, I’m happy to help with that."
