Jonathan Wheatley appears to be on his way out at Red Bull Racing. The sporting director is looking at his options with other teams, and Red Bull does not seem to be holding the Briton back should he find another team.

On Sunday, it was announced that Jonathan Wheatley is considering leaving Red Bull Racing. Wheatley, like Adrian Newey, has been with Red Bull Racing since 2006. As sporting director, his responsibilities include the performance of the pit stop crew, who year after year set the fastest pit stops in the sport.

Wheatley also leaving Red Bull Racing?

The Race now knows to report that Wheatley may actually leave too. Red Bull Racing would not stand in the way if the 56-year-old wants to seek refuge elsewhere. Wheatley is currently in contract negotiations but could also still choose to stay at Red Bull Racing. Wheatley is said to have ambitions of becoming team boss himself, and does not have that chance at Red Bull with Christian Horner still in the saddle.

It would be the second big name to leave if Wheatley left the team. Adrian Newey already announced his departure earlier this week and Zak Brown already revealed that more Red Bull people will leave due to the unrest within the team. The McLaren top man revealed that his team has received many CVs from people at Red Bull.
