With the last race of the season the champion of 2021 will also be known. Not only F1 fans yearn for their favourite driver, but also the other F1 drivers have their preferences. Carlos Sainz knows who he'd rather see win, but is afraid of the reactions on social media.
With Sky Italia the two Ferrari drivers, Sainz and Charles Leclerc, talk about the denouement of the season. Leclerc is already tired of the questions about the battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen and keeps quiet. Teammate Sainz, however, says he does have a preference for one of the two.
The former teammate of Verstappen at Toro Rosso prefers to keep it to himself who he wants to win the title: "And why is that?" says Sainz. "Because you get slaughtered on Twitter and Instagram afterwards." Indeed, the battle between the Red Bull driver and the Mercedes driver has become very heated on several aspects.
In Saudi Arabia, it was possible to see how fiercely the drivers compete against each other on the track. The relationship between Toto Wolff and Christian Horner has also deteriorated and all the leading figures of the teams have been taking it out on each other in the media. Leclerc therefore understands what Sainz is saying.
