The second free practice session ended with Max Verstappen in fourth place and Sergio Perez in fifth. The Mexican explains at Motorsport-Magazin why they were not in the top three.

Both Red Bull Racing drivers were not in the top three in the second free practice, while they were first and fourth in the first free practice. According to the 31-year old driver, this was not due to any major problems, but to testing different set-ups: "We tested very different set-ups on the two cars", he explained.

Both drivers have been able to do a lot of laps on the new circuit in Abu Dhabi, so the hope is that they will have a lot of data to look at. The former Racing Point driver expects they can still make big strides after analysing the data: "I think we have enough info now to go through in detail, hopefully, we can get the best parts out of that."

Constructors' Championship

At the moment Perez is still fourth in the championship and it looks like he will stay there. Valtteri Bottas has a 28-point lead and Charles Leclerc is 32 points behind him. It is important that the Mexican scores a lot of points this weekend as Red Bull may be able to overtake Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship. Mercedes' lead is 28 points.
