Qualifying duels | Verstappen and Hamilton leave teammates behind
- GPblog.com
Qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the last opportunity for the drivers to gain a point in their respective qualifying duels. While Yuki Tsunoda took his first point, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton once again showed their qualities.
The Dutchman is not only a lot faster than Sergio Perez in the races, but also shows that in the qualifications. With his pole position in Abu Dhabi he was again faster than his teammate, bringing the final score to twenty to two. Hamiton did not achieve those figures, but with sixteen victories in 22 Grands Prix he could also be satisfied.
Tsunoda surprised everyone at AlphaTauri by setting a faster time than Pierre Gasly for the first time this season. Where the Frenchman has to start from twelfth, Tsunoda will start from P8. Nicholas Latifi was also faster than George Russell. This happened for the second time this season. In addition, Esteban Ocon decided the battle with Fernando Alonso definitively in his favor.
