Lewis Hamilton already has seven world titles to his name, but even he has never seen a championship like the one in 2021. Hamilton is level on points with Max Verstappen, but with the Dutchman having won one more race, the Mercedes driver will have to finish ahead of Verstappen to win the title today. A tall order because he is behind the Red Bull Racing driver on the grid.

"We don’t know if the strategy will be a one-stop or a two-stop. We did a good job getting through on the mediums in Q2. I just have to see how it will work for us. I think it will be the best strategy and I fully trust my guys," Hamilton acknowledged in The Build Up.

Hamilton on the track late

The seven-time world champion will be looking to avoid a Jeddah-style scenario, where he was stuck behind Verstappen and had to battle his way past. While Verstappen was very calm in his interview before the race, Hamilton does hint that he needed time to prepare. On Saturday night, for example, he was at the track until late.

"I've just got to prepare the best way possible, I’ve given it absolutely everything. It all comes down to me doing what I love to do the most and just be me on track," Hamilton concluded.
