Internet reactions: 'Unacceptable, FIA has given Verstappen the title'.
- GPblog.com
After the bizarre ending to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix the internet exploded. Max Verstappen has the world title in his pocket, but not everyone agrees. According to many fans it is unfair that the Dutchman has won because of the decisions of the FIA. However, there are also many fans who believe that Verstappen deserved the title. GPblog lists the best tweets.
If the FIA implemented the rules properly, Verstappen would already have won the Title before we got to Abu Dhabi

What a season Max Verstappen has had.

No matter your opinion on his driving style and aggression, you cannot deny that he is one of the best young talents we’ve seen.
This is only the beginning for him too, only 24 years old!
A deserving world champion.
If max won this race fairly then he deserved the championship but this was far from fair. Race control only allowed the lapped cars between Max and Hamilton to overtake. The fia broke sporting regulation 39.12. This race was rigged by the fia.

Me after watching Hamilton dominate the race only to lose on the last lap because Michael Masi wanted the dramatic Netflix finale pic.twitter.com/2kUTbMjXtx

I don't know what I've just watched but it can't be right. Hamilton's been robbed, surely? #F1

and when you can’t beat lewis hamilton on pure race craft, you need the FIA to rig it for you

Lewis Hamilton was robbed.

Max Verstappen deserves this championship beyond doubt, but that was very very dirty from the FIA

Lewis was robbed.

FIA ‘we let them race the last lap’.
Well if Verstappen was quick enough, they would’ve raced the other 57 laps.
Unbelievable. #FormulaOne #AbuDhabiGP
verstappen didn’t do anything wrong, it was the FIA https://t.co/uyGqsFZYg8

I still don't understand what Merc are trying with these protests. I mean, they are against Masi's decision. All Verstappen did was follow the instructions. On what basis are they going to take away the title ?

This Max Verstappen Champion win was manufactured. Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes were robbed. No ways about it.
— Mr Lawrence (@Mr_Lawrence4) December 12, 2021
Hamilton was basically winning 10-0 in the 90th minute and they said next goal wins while Verstappen was on a counter attack
— Lewis Ryan (@Lewisryan28) December 12, 2021
Verstappen on new hard tires couldn’t catch Hamilton on 40-lap old hard tires so the FIA had to intervene and help

the worst thing here is that verstappen didn’t break the rule, the FIA broke their OWN rules. how are Mercedes supposed to get back at them??? it’s so unfair. a steal.

nah I'm actually livid. if Verstappen had won this title on merrit that would be one thing. but for the FIA to gift him this title by bending every rule there is, that is unacceptable.
— val (@imoIacat) December 12, 2021
Today, Max Verstappen ran out of talent against the greatest racing driver of all time in Lewis Hamilton. So on the last lap the FIA changed a 25 year old procedure to gift the win to Max so they could end Lewis domination. I’ve never seen such a bigger fix up in my life in sport

Sergio Perez deserved to be on the podium with Max Verstappen and Christian Horner to share that moment.
— Adam Todd (@AdamToddF1) December 12, 2021
He was outstanding today and played such an key role in keeping Verstappen in the race.
When it mattered most, he was there to help his teammate. #AbuDhabiGP #F1
Max Verstappen drove like a champion all season. The issue here is with the FIA not having a fucking clue what they're doing.

It isn't Max's fault that their incompetence helped him that much, much as it isn't Lewis's fault that he couldn't defend from Max at the end either.
