Ferrari appoints Schumacher as reserve driver for 2022

Mick Schumacher will have a remarkable double role in 2022. In addition to his job as a driver at Haas, he will also be a reserve driver on behalf of Ferrari during half of the races.
Debut of Schumacher
Schumacher had a solid debut in Formula 1. He won the duel with his teammate Nikita Mazepin by a large margin but did not score any points. The German knew that his team has its sights set on 2022, so he had to be patient. In the coming season, he must really perform.
Still, Schumacher's performance has caught the eye. The son of Michael Schumacher is part of the Ferrari team and there they see the German growing. Therefore, in 2022 he will get the chance to be a reserve driver for Ferrari in addition to races for Haas. In addition, Reuters reports that Schumacher will also be available in that role for their clients: Alfa Romeo and Haas.
Testing for Ferrari
Schumacher shares this position with Antonio Giovinazzi. The Italian who was pushed aside by Alfa Romeo, gets the chance to prove his worth as a reserve driver for Ferrari in 2022. A good chance to stay in the picture for a seat in F1 for 2023. However, Gio also races in Formula E and therefore misses 11 of the 23 races.
For the other twelve races, Schumacher comes into the picture, but it is still questionable how he will fulfill this role. He will not be able to make the hours in the simulator at night and it does not seem logical to put him in the Ferrari during free practice.
