After a long period of media silence, especially from Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes seems to have turned the switch and put their focus fully on the new year. Just before the festive season, the team shared a teaser to the new car, with a video showing the powerplant of the new car.
So on New Year's Day, another teaser followed, this time with a photo showing the silhouette of the W13. The image was accompanied with the text: "New year, new Me-rcedes", referring to the new cars that will fill the grid from 2022 onwards.
The image shows that the new Mercedes differs in a number of ways from the show model that Formula 1 unveiled in 2021. The front wing of the W13 consists of three elements instead of four, the side pods are larger and the rear wing has a different shape. With more than seven weeks before the winter test, Mercedes is the only team to have already revealed so much about the new car.
