According to Alain Prost, there is a fifty percent chance that Lewis Hamilton will call it a day in Formula 1. Nevertheless, the four-time world champion hopes that the Briton will go for his eighth title.
Everyone is currently speculating about the future of Hamilton, who has not said anything on social media since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Craig Slater previously revealed That Hamilton wants clarity from the FIA before deciding on his future.
Many F1 experts believe that the Briton will not quit and wants to go for his eighth world championship in 2022 with extra motivation. However, former F1 driver Prost is not convinced about the situation.
Challenge for Hamilton
"It is difficult to put yourself in his shoes," Prost tells the French magazine Le Journal du Dimanche. "He has as many reasons to stop as to continue, so it's fifty-fifty. It's been a big blow for him, but it would be a real shame if he wasn't there next season."
With the prospect of the new regulations, Prost hopes the seven-time world champion will be motivated to continue. The Frenchman hopes Hamilton will go for that eighth title. According to Prost, he may have the opportunity to fight against three teams and four or five drivers fighting for the title. "That's a challenge Hamilton might want to take on."
