Daniel Riccardo will receive an official award from his native country two months before the start of the new Formula 1 season. In fact, he was told this month that his country is appointing him a Member of Order of Australia for his achievements inside and outside the sporting world.
The McLaren driver is not only known for his excellent performances in Formula 1, but also for his positive character and his eye for other people. Partly because of his commitment to charity, Australia decided to put him in the spotlight by presenting him with the special award.
Ricciardo is working on a successful Formula 1 career
The smiley Ricciardo entered Formula 1 in 2011. At the Spanish HRT F1 Team, he impressed so much that he ventured to Toro Rosso the following season. He stayed there for only two years, after which Red Bull Racing decided to move him on and had him under contract for no less than five seasons.
The Austrian racing stable was keen to keep him for longer, but Ricciardo, partly due to the attention Max Verstappen was receiving, left in 2019 and went to work for Renault. Two years later he moved to McLaren where he is still under contract. Last season he finished in eighth position in the world championship with 115 points.
