Nyck de Vries will start the second ePrix of Saudi Arabia from pole position. Robin Frijns also drove a strong session and will start from the second row of the grid.
Nyck de Vries immediately started the qualifying session strong. The Dutchman immediately managed to set the fastest time in Group A. Frijns also had a good start. In the first session in Group B, he set the second-fastest time and went through together with Jean-Eric Vergne and others. Stoffel Vandoorne did not make it to the next round, a disappointment after the pole position on Friday.
In the quarterfinals, De Vries took on two-time champion Vergne, but the Frenchman stood no chance against the Mercedes driver. Frijns took on Oliver Rowland, but the latter made a number of mistakes, allowing the Dutchman to comfortably advance to the semifinals.
De Vries unbeatable
In the penultimate round, De Vries was again unstoppable and managed to beat opponent Lucas Di Grassi as well. Frijns was up against Edoardo Mortara, but the Dutchman just couldn't match his time and will be on the second row of the grid for the race.
De Vries faced Edoardo Mortara in the final. Mortara immediately made a mistake at the beginning of his lap but came back strongly in the last sector. De Vries, however, also had a strong lap and managed to beat his opponent with a small difference of 0.005 seconds. The Dutchman will start the race from pole position.
