'Ferrari should not pick number one and two driver'

Just like last year, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will have to take care of podiums and preferably victories at Ferrari. According to former F1 driver Ivan Capelli, it is important that Ferrari does not choose a first and second driver.
No choice between Leclerc and Sainz
Ferrari chooses to keep the lineup of drivers the same as last year in 2021. In that year Leclerc was narrowly beaten by Sainz in terms of points, but over the whole season, the Spaniard seemed a lot more consistent than his teammate. Sainz managed to finish every race and only twice did so outside the points, in addition, he scored four podiums against one podium of Leclerc.
According to Capelli, Ferrari should not choose a clear number one driver at the beginning of the season. This he says in conversation with La Gazzetta dello Sport. "Ferrari should prepare to manage two drivers with the same ambitions, the same desire and the same chances to win," says the Italian. This is the best step for Ferrari to get back on top, Capelli thinks.
Ferrari on the way back to the top
In 2020, Ferrari experienced its worst season since 1980. With Sainz replacing Sebastian Vettel and some adjustments to the car, the team managed to fight its way back to third place among the constructors in 2021. In 2022, the team hopes to be able to compete for wins again along with Mercedes and Red Bull Racing.
