Formula 2 talent leaves Red Bull Academy and chooses Alpine

Formula 2 driver Jack Doohan finished second in the championship last year and it seemed that he had a bright future ahead of him at Red Bull Racing. Yet his future plans seem to be changing, as the driver has switched to the Alpine Academy.
The Alpine Academy already had a few talents on the team, namely Olli Caldwell, Victor Martins and Caio Collet, but Doohan certainly fits that list as well. He finished second in Formula 3 and also qualified second in his second qualifying session in Formula 2.
According to the Australian driver, the move to the new team is a good step towards his goal of becoming a Formula 1 driver. Above all, Alpine wants to teach its drivers a lot to ensure that they eventually become even better drivers. The opportunity to speak with engineers and work with the team are ideal for young talents like Doohan.
Differences are present
The 19-year-old driver has tied the knot himself and now wants to prepare at Alpine for his first full-time season in Formula 2 for Virtuosi Racing. According to him, the program of Alpine is more interesting, because he is convinced that that program really makes him a better driver. "If it was the same I wouldn’t have moved. I don’t want to touch on that too much, but there was just a really good path for me to actually become a better driver regardless of the end goal, to learn as much as possible and get valuable time that you can’t get anywhere else and that I hadn’t been getting," he explains to RACER.
