FIA steward defends Masi and thinks he deserves more respect

Michael Masi has had a tough time in recent months. The race director has been heavily criticized for his decisions during the decisive race in Abu Dhabi. Danny Sullivan stands up for the Australian and thinks he deserves all the credit.
Indy 500 winner and FIA driver steward Sullivan defends Masi and the situation he found himself in during the final laps of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In conversation with Autosport.com he states that it is unfair to blame the race director for everything.
Sullivan has been part of the rotating driver stewards for more than a decade. So far he has never experienced a process changed due to the situation in the championship. Only the available data is considered and not the positions of the drivers. According to the American, the race in Abu Dhabi got out of hand due to the enormous time pressure and the radio messages from the teams. In the end Masi did have to make a decision. Sullivan doesn't find it strange that the Australian was exhausted at the end of the season, as he worked like a dog all year.
Changes FIA
The FIA is currently investigating the events in Abu Dhabi. On Monday, Mohammed Ben Sulayem spoke to all the team bosses. It will not be long before a report comes out with the findings. That will also reveal whether Masi will retain his position as race director.
