Hamilton shuts down rumours: 'I never said I would stop'

Mercedes are presting the new W13 for the 2022 Formula 1 season. Lewis Hamilton hopes to use this car to hunt for his eighth world title, after narrowly missing out in 2021.
For Hamilton, it has been a special winter. The Briton missed out on his eighth world title in Abu Dhabi on the last lap of the race. Max Verstappen became world champion and how that happened was not correct according to Hamilton. However, the Briton is 'just' back after a long absence and ready to take on another title fight.
Hamilton on to eighth title
''I never said I was going to stop. I love doing what I do. It was a difficult time for me, a time I needed to take a step back. I had my family around me and created great moments," Hamilton said about his long absence from social media.
Hamilton did not leave, however, and Toto Wolff also revealed that he never really thought Lewis would quit. In fact, Hamilton still has one goal open and that is to win the eighth world title. The Brit just missed out on that in 2021, and he hopes to win it in the future.
''Then I got to a point where I decided to go on the attack again and wanted to work with Toto and George (Russell). It's cool to see George come into the team with his energy. I feel that already within the team and look forward to the season," said the Brit.
