'Expect F1 to make announcement on GP in Russia as late as Friday'

Formula 1 is sitting down with key people to decide what to do about the situation in Ukraine. Many believe that the Russian Grand Prix should be taken off the calendar, but the question is whether F1 will make that decision yet?
What is Formula 1 doing?
Russia has invaded Ukraine and the whole world is watching tensely. Various sanctions are already being taken against the country and sports cannot be left behind either. UEFA announced Friday morning that the Champions League final will not be played in St. Petersburg, but in Paris.
Formula 1 is still remarkably quiet in this respect. On Thursday, the sport came out with the message that the situation is being monitored, but the outside world is not satisfied with that. The organization is also meeting again on Friday to see what more can be done.
No GP in Russia
''At the moment it's almost impossible where F1 can say we're happy to go to the Russian Grand Prix whenever and have a good time, celebrate sport, celebrate F1 and be happy on the podium and not expect some kind of international condemnation. The owners of F1 know that, the teams and drivers know that. I can't see anyway it will carry on this year, even if it's some months away,'' says Ted Kravitz at Sky Sports.
Although the Russian Grand Prix is indeed not on the calendar until September, Craig Slater is also expecting another announcement from Formula One on Friday that the race in Sochi will not go ahead. Haas also already took action by removing the Russian colors from its livery and severing ties with sponsor Uralkali.
