Not only do the Formula 1 teams seem to be increasingly ready for the new season, Pirelli are also making a good impression. The Italian tyre supplier announced the chosen tyres for the first three Grands Prix on Monday afternoon, with a surprise on display.
Pirelli again has five types of tyres at its disposal this season. Where the C1 is again the hardest tyre to choose from, the C5 is the softest compound. For the Grands Prix in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia the teams already know what they will race with.
The Italian company choose to start on the three hardest compounds during the first race. Next up is the GP of Saudi Arabia, where the drivers will have to compete with each other using the C2, C3 and C4. In Australia, Pirelli remarkably have opted for the C2, C3 and C5.
The tyre choices are in! One set of softs must be saved for Q3: the drivers qualifying in the top 10 then have to return them. One set each of mediums and hards must be kept for the race; all drivers are obliged to use at least one of those sets.#F1 #Fit4F1 #Pirelli #Pirelli150 pic.twitter.com/wQBmkbTFo8
