Valtteri Bottas will begin his first season with Alfa Romeo in a week and a half. While the Finnish driver hopes to do well immediately at his new team, he plans to do his best for his teammate Guanyu Zhou as well. He tells this in an interview with Crash.net.
With his experience at Mercedes, Bottas knows better than anyone what it is like to perform under pressure. He hopes to take that experience to Alfa Romeo with which he hopes to make rapid progress in the coming years. In addition, he wants to form a strong team with Zhou.
Bottas wants to offer Zhou help
The Chinese driver has shown in the past that he has a lot of talent in him, but has no experience in Formula 1. Bottas realizes that it will not be easy for Zhou to surprise straight away in the first races and therefore lets it be known that his teammate does not have to fear that he will let him down.
"I know what it feels like to be a rookie and you really rely on the team and your teammate as well," he notes in the interview. "I’m sure we can work well together and I’m going to help Guanyu as much as I can on his journey to become a complete driver in Formula 1 and a competitive driver." Alfa Romeo announced the lineup for the test days in Bahrain earlier in the day.
