The Formula 1 world is getting ready for the first race weekend of the season. While in Barcelona and Bahrain the teams had the opportunity to test things extensively, this weekend will really show how the fine the margins are. Helmut Marko is keeping a close eye on Mercedes.
In recent years, the German racing stable have invariably been among the favorites for the world title, but this season the team seems to be experiencing more problems. Due to the new regulations Mercedes is still clearly searching for the ideal balance. The formation received many compliments about their developed side pods, but Marko is more reserved in his judgment.
The Red Bull Racing advisor tells the Osterreich newspaper that it is all about the functionalities. "We were looking more at the performance than the sidepod and it wasn’t that impressive," Marko reveals. "What Mercedes has brought looks revolutionary. But what matters is the time."
Red Bull seems to be ahead of Mercedes
Red Bull, on the other hand, is making a better impression. The Austrian formation seems to have everything in order to compete for the front places this coming weekend. Ferrari, however, also look quick.
