BREAKING | Hulkenberg replaces Vettel after positive COVID-19 test
- GPblog.com
Sebastian Vettel will miss the Bahrain Grand Prix. The German has tested positive for the coronavirus and is therefore not allowed to compete for Aston Martin. Nico Hulkenberg replaces his compatriot.
Return of Hulkenberg
Vettel will not be in action at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Where Daniel Ricciardo previously had to miss the test week in Bahrain due to a positive test, the German is the first to miss a race in 2022. Vettel was still in action during both test days, but now has to wait in isolation for a negative test.
Hulkenberg is a reserve driver for Aston Martin and can therefore appear as a replacement for the fourth time. In 2020, the German also drove three races for Racing Point, when Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez were absent. It has therefore been more than a year and a half since Hulkenberg last participated in a Grand Prix.
UPDATE: Sebastian Vettel has tested positive for COVID-19 and will therefore not be taking part in the 2022 #BahrainGP.
