Is Red Bull fastest off porpoising? 'Running with new suspension'
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner seems to have confirmed to German media in Bahrain that Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez drove with a new suspension in the RB18. It is not yet confirmed, but it seems as if Red Bull has made a move to deal with the porpoising problem.
Does Red Bull have a solution?
With the new suspension parts in the RB18, Red Bull can continue to look for the correct wheel alignment. Whether they can find a solution against the porpoising with this is not clear, nor is it clear if the team with the new suspension is also concretely looking for a solution to the problem. Still, that could well be possible, as there doesn't seem to be another obvious reason to come up with an updated suspension during the first tests. Since Red Bull was one of the teams that suffered 'little' from the problem anyway, they might just be the team that gets rid of the problems first.
However, there is further speculation about the RB18's new suspension. It is probably a lighter version and that is not a problem for the slightly overweight Red Bull. The Red Bull was initially too heavy according to the regulations, but a little over a week ago it was reported that the FIA has increased the maximum weight for F1 cars. Therefore Red Bull should not have to worry about exceeding the rules, but a lighter car if possible is of course never a bad thing in Formula 1.
Christian Horner has confirmed to the German media that both Verstappen and Perez are running new suspension.
