Full results FP3 | Verstappen and Leclerc seem to be evenly matched
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen once again set the fastest time of the session during the third free practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc followed in P2, but the gap between the two drivers is incredibly small.
Battle between Verstappen and Leclerc?
For a long time Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and Mercedes fought for first place in FP3, but it was ultimately Verstappen who ran the fastest time. Leclerc followed in P2 with a gap of only 0.096 seconds, so it seems that the two drivers will be evenly matched during qualifying.
Sergio Perez is also looking good with a third place. For Mercedes, things are already looking a little better than on Friday, as mainly the porpoising problem seems to have been reduced on the straights. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished in P4 and P6, with Carlos Sainz between the two drivers.
The midfield
Alfa Romeo is also looking good with both drivers in the top ten. Kevin Magnussen looks surprisingly strong for Haas with a seventh place finish. Lance Stroll completes the top ten. Yuki Tsunoda had hydraulic problems, so the Japanese driver was not in action during FP3. McLaren has solved Daniel Ricciardo 's water pump problems, but the Australian did not yet get any further than a P15.
