At the end of 2022, Gasly's contract at AlphaTauri expires. The Frenchman therefore hopes that Red Bull Racing will consider him in their choice for 2023, as Sergio Perez 's contract also expires after next season.

However, if the Mexican manages to perform consistently in the new season, there is a good chance that he may stay at Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen. Last season Perez already played a crucial role in the Dutchman's title victory when he managed to hold off Lewis Hamilton considerably in Abu Dhabi.

Gasly already had the chance to drive at Red Bull in 2019, but he had to leave the team mid-season due to disappointing results. He was replaced by Alexander Albon, but he too was replaced again after a season and a half, this time by a driver outside the Red Bull program.

Gasly ready for the next step

In conversation with Crash.net Gasly explains that he has never been more ready for a chance at the top. "I’m a very different driver than I was three years ago. I think everybody grew from that situation and yeah, I feel ready."

"Whether it’s going to happen if I do a good year or not, it’s not up to me to decide. Obviously we will have to talk about it at some point but right now we are only in Bahrain, so I don’t want to have this in my head." Gasly will spend the rest of the season doing his best to convince Red Bull of his talent. In 2021, the Frenchman finished at P9 in the drivers' championship and often managed to impress.
