Russell on target at Mercedes: 'That's what I think'

George Russell is in his first season with Mercedes. Although he realises that it is not easy to meet the high expectations, he does not expect to take long to get used to his new team. He tells this in an interview with GQ Magazine.
The Brit made a very positive impression at Williams last season, attracting the interest of Mercedes. The German racing team said goodbye to Valtteri Bottas at the end of last season and decided to sign Russell. The driver was given the difficult task of competing with Lewis Hamilton in the new season.
His teammate, who won the world championship seven times, showed in the opening race in Bahrain that he is still in good shape. At the same time, Russell made it clear that he too wants to compete for the world title this season. With a fourth position at the end of the race he was satisfied.
Russell expects a lot from himself
In the interview, Russell explains that he thinks he can quickly fight for victories, because he was used to dealing with pressure in the past. "I've been racing for 17 years, and 14 of those I was at the front," Russell states. "I think as soon as I've got a race or two under my belt, I'll be back to normal."
