It was a bad Friday for Kevin Magnussen in Jeddah. The Dane crashed out in both free practice sessions, so he drove very few laps on a circuit that is completely new to him. The Dane will have to draw on the experience of teammate Mick Schumacher.

Schumacher needs to take the lead

In FP1 there was a fault with Magnussen's gearbox and in FP2 something reportedly went wrong with the engine. As a result, the Haas driver drove very few laps on the intense Jeddah Corniche Circuit that he is not yet familiar with. In Bahrain, he finished in P5 after an ironclad comeback weekend. Whether he can do that again this weekend is hard to estimate after so little time on track.

On the Haas F1 website Magnussen says: "It was not ideal to have driven so little. But during the laps I had, the car didn't feel wrong. I just hope I have a good VT3 tomorrow. Some more laps, then qualifying and then we can use some of Mick's experience on the long runs to prepare for the race. It's a great track with high speed and lots of action. I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

Although Magnussen has only completed one race since coming back, he still seems to be the most experienced driver within the team. In Bahrain, he also finished better than his young teammate Schumacher. However, the Dane will count on the youngster this weekend who does have the experience on the track.
