The organisers of the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix were quick to point out: 'the show must go on'. However, that unanimous decision by all concerned turns out not to be unanimous at all: the drivers are resisting. At 02:00 local time, they are still not sure whether they will race in Jeddah or not.

Drivers not convinced of 'safety guarantees'

The local authorities 'guaranteed' the safety of those on and around the circuit. That's all it took to convince the FIA, but the drivers are an obstacle for the organizers.

A number of drivers are strongly opposing the decision to allow the race weekend to go ahead. "The guarantees of safety given to F1 by the Saudi authorities appear to be along the lines of this happens regularly, only commercial facilities are attacked, they won't attack the race, and we have drone/missile defences in the area. I'm not sure that everyone is so convinced," writes Formula 1 journalist Adam Cooper. Meanwhile, the discussions continue.
