Marko lashes out at Mercedes: 'More sympathetic'
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing were battling it out with Mercedes last season, but that has changed this season. The German team have fallen away from their rivals this year and Red Bull have a new rival in Ferrari. And Marko is not at all sorry about that.
Since the rule changes in 2014, Mercedes have been the strongest team on the grid almost every year. In the years that followed, the Germans won the World Championship no less than seven times: six times Lewis Hamilton was the strongest and once Nico Rosberg stood on top.
In 2021 Max Verstappen and Red Bull ensured that Mercedes had serious opposition and they denied them the world title. It was a heavy disappointment for Mercedes, who were hoping to go for the world title again this year.
Marko is happy with Ferrari
However, the new regulations did not make it easy for Mercedes. It means that for the time being Verstappen is fighting for the lead in the World Championship together with Charles Leclerc, while Hamilton and George Russell have to fight it out in the middle. Marko does not mind at all, as he reveals in conversation with RTL Deutschland. "They are more sympathetic, if you can put it that way," he points to Ferrari. However, the Red Bull advisor expects Mercedes to come back soon.
