Poll | Who do you think is the GPblog driver of the day in Australia?
- GPblog.com
Charles Leclerc was voted Driver of the Day by Formula One viewers worldwide after a dominant win at Albert Park. Do GPblog readers agree?
The choice for Leclerc is a logical one, as the Monegasque drove to victory unchallenged in the Australian Grand Prix. In doing so, he has once again shown that Ferrari is the big favorite at this moment. Carlos Sainz on the other hand had a day to quickly forget.
Max Verstappen was fine on the road in a race that was all about damage control for him, after not feeling comfortable in the RB18 all weekend. However, it was again technical problems that threw a spanner in the works for him, ending his race early.
Sergio Perez, meanwhile, showed Red Bull yet again why they chose him. The Mexican once again proved to be there to take the loss and picked up important points for his team with his second place. It earns him a provisional fourth place in the championship.
At the same time, there is also something to be said for Mercedes, which once again managed to pull off an unexpected podium finish. The team had to take advantage of Verstappen's bad luck again, but it proves that reliability is definitely present in the German stable.
