Will Hamilton trade Mercedes? 'Now start the natural thought process'
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton is having a difficult time this season for the time being. Mercedes fell well behind Red Bull Racing and Ferrari due to the new regulations, so the seven-time world champion must fear a lost year. Mika Häkkinen does not rule out that this will cause a departure.
Starting in 2014, Hamilton enjoyed a very successful period, winning the world championship with Mercedes for many years. Also this season he hoped to fight for the world title again with Max Verstappen, but those possibilities seem to be further away than ever.
Last calendar year Hamilton extended his contract until the end of 2023. However, it is questionable whether the driver, given the current performance, still feels comfortable continuing to race for the German racing team. In fact, the Briton has already shown his impatience with the current possibilities in the media in recent days.
Hamilton possibly thinks about Mercedes-exit
According to Häkkinen, Hamilton may just be working on a possible departure. "I'm afraid this wil be a really difficult season for Lewis," the former Formula 1 driver stated in conversation with Unibet. "Now start the natural thought process of drivers. Should I go somewhere else? It's a fact."
