Olav Mol speaks out on criticism of Viaplay
- GPblog.com
Since this season, Formula 1 fans in The Netherlands have to go to streaming service Viaplay, instead of Ziggo. Not everyone is happy with that and Olav Mol understands why.
Just about every race weekend Viaplay gets a lot of criticism on social media. Whether it's the commentary of Nelson Valkenburg and Melroy Heemskerk, the technical problems during streaming or the content of the weekend, users always find something to complain about.
Some users are so done with Viaplay's new commentators that they have chosen to turn on Olav Mol in the background. The experienced journalist has been the voice for Formula 1 in the Netherlands for years and was asked at HLF8 asked what he thinks of the criticism of Viaplay.
Mol understands why there are so many complaints about the streaming service. "The Netherlands always struggles with change and innovation. That's pretty simple. They are a big media company that has chosen a certain path and Holland finds it hard to get used to that. So be it!"
Viaplay satisfied with launch
Despite the many complaints from users, Viaplay themselves are satisfied with the launch of the streaming service in the Netherlands. The company is not worried about technical problems. According to Viaplay, a connection via the internet is simply less stable than cable television, which means customers have to put up with hiccups or a drop in resolution.
