George Russell is having a good time at Mercedes. The Briton made the switch to the German racing stable before the season and has since learned a lot from his teammate Lewis Hamilton, he stressed in an interview with Sky Sports.
At 24 years old, Russell seemingly still has a lot of years in Formula 1 ahead of him. The driver, therefore, wants to use this season mainly to learn from his team and the people around him. For example, he notices that Hamilton manages to find a good work-life balance.
"I think this is something I really admire from Lewis," Russell states in the interview. "e puts a lot of effort into dabbling into other sports or music and it’s a way to take your mind away. And I’m so focused on my racing – I give all of my life to be successful inside that cockpit but sometimes you can overdo it."
Russell is behind Leclerc in the world championship
For now, Russell is performing better than his teammate. With 37 points, he is in second place in the world championship. Hamilton, for the time being, did not get beyond a fifth place in the rankings, just ahead of Max Verstappen.
