Red Bull takes risk with new parts: 'It's a risky move'

Red Bull Racing are one of the teams to put new parts on the car after the first free practice. There is no time to test out these new parts for a while, nor does Red Bull carry many spare parts. Dr. Helmut Marko calls it a risky case.
Marko sees risky move at Red Bull
Red Bull is placing a new exhaust system in both Max Verstappen's and Sergio Perez' RB18's. Each driver may use as many as eight of these during the season, so there is no reason to panic. However, it does appear to be a risky move, as the new parts have not yet been tried out and Red Bull also does not have many spares with them for the rest of the weekend, should things go wrong during qualifying.
Red Bull advisor Marko is slightly worried and keeps faith in God. Speaking to ServusTV, the Austrian said, "We have faith in God that it will be okay. We are also not that well stocked with spare parts. I think it's a risky move." With only sixty minutes of practice in the rain and on a wet track, the drivers go into qualifying fairly thinly prepared. Should there be any problems with the new exhaust system, it could be disastrous for Red Bull's weekend, which is looking at a considerable deficit to Ferrari.
