Max Verstappen experienced a very disappointing start to the season. Where the Dutchman hoped to compete for the world title again, he had to deal with two crashes during the first three races. However, Verstappen remains relaxed, he said in an interview with Viaplay.
The reigning world champion fell short of Ferrari in Bahrain and Australia but seemed to stay close to Charles Leclerc with a second final spot. Both times, however, Verstappen encountered problems with his car, leaving him with nothing to do but pull his car over. Despite the disappointment, Verstappen remains calm under the current circumstances.
"Of course, it hasn't been a top start for us, but I can't do very much about that myself," Verstappen says of the first three races. "For me, there is no immediate increase in pressure. I go to every race to get the best out of it. Today, at least, that was good."
Verstappen starts at the front of sprint race
This weekend, Verstappen started the race weekend very positively. With Saturday's sprint race on the program, the Dutch driver had qualifying ahead of him the day before. In that, he managed to convince by driving a faster time than Leclerc, which means he will start the sprint race on Saturday afternoon in P1.
