Horner: 'Finishing in the top 4 would be great'

The drivers are getting ready for the sprint race in Imola, with quite a few drivers out of position. That includes Sergio Perez, so it is important for the Mexican to make overtakes, according to Christian Horner.
Friday's qualifying session was plagued by no less than five red flags, causing some drivers to have a lot of bad luck with their fast laps. That certainly applies to Sergio Perez, which meant the Mexican couldn't get further than seventh on the grid for the sprint race.
That's obviously not where the Red Bull Racing driver wants to be, so he needs to show what he's worth, as Christian Horner reveals to the Sky Sports F1 camera.
"Sergio has to stick his elbows out and go for it full force. He is now out of position where he should be. If he can get into the top four, that would be a great result for tomorrow's race."
Catch-up is possible in Imola
It won't be easy to do a lot of overtaking at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, as the circuit is quite narrow and doesn't have many places where drivers can easily overtake. According to Horner, however, it is indeed possible to gain positions on the classic Italian circuit.
Especially on the start-finish straight, the team boss believes it should be possible to do some overtaking, with a starring role in the offing for DRS. "If you can stay close in the last corner, then you can definitely make an action on the straight," said the Briton.
