Wolff willing to step aside: 'I would be the first to admit that'

Mercedes have been far from competitive with the W13 this season. This expresses itself in the necessary frustrations within the team, but it also causes speculation about the leadership of team boss Toto Wolff. However, he has no intention of stepping down for the time being.
Wolff remains fully committed to turning the tide at Mercedes, but also says he is prepared to step back if his motivation wanes. As always happens in down times, his future as team principal is in doubt, as is his own motivation to stay.

The Austrian finds these doubts understandable, although he says he himself does not have them for the time being. "It was to be expected that after so many years the day would come when these questions would arise," he explains according to Express. Questions about his leadership will not be long in coming, according to Wolff, but he is prepared for that. "My shoulders are broad enough for that," says the team boss.
By his own admission, his motivation is as strong now as it has always been, but he admits that he is willing to step aside when the time comes. "I would be the first to admit it and hand the stick to someone who could run faster," Wolff concluded.
