Button agrees with FIA's jewellery ban: 'This isn't something new'

Everyone is talking about the FIA's strict rules around jewelry and piercings. At Sky Sports, Jenson Button supports the FIA's decision, but he does find it strange that the regulations are only now being tightened.
From now on, the FIA will be checking more strictly whether drivers are wearing piercings and jewelry in the car. Those who do not follow the rules can expect a fine or even deduction of championship points.
"This isn't something that is new. It has always been in the regulations - don't wear underpants and don't wear piercings or metal on your body. I don't think they have pushed the regulation very hard and now they are, which is very strange, why they are doing that suddenly," Button says on the British broadcaster.
Strange decision by the FIA
According to Button, it's not just about safety in the car, but also outside when drivers are helped out of the car by a marshal or when they have to go to the hospital for an MRI. "It is a tricky one and it is weird we are talking about it. There are so many things to talk about in motorsport and F1 at the moment and we are talking about that," Button ends. Sebastian Vettel also spoke out about the new rules. According to the German, the drivers should make their own choices.
