Max Verstappen's weekend did not start off trouble-free, but on Saturday he came back strong. The Red Bull Racing driver expects to make things difficult for his opponents at Ferrari, but also sees many unpredictable factors that could come into play.
During the build-up, viewable on the Formula 1 YouTube-channel, Verstappen indicated that he expects an unpredictable race. "I think it will be exciting, also to see what the weather is going to do," the world champion tells David Coulthard in conversation. In the hours leading up to the race, it has been drizzling off and on in Miami.
Verstappen is confident for the race
Temperatures are high and Verstappen expects the tyres to struggle in the hot conditions. However, he does express confidence in the speed of his RB18. "We have a very competitive car, but I think it will be an exciting battle."
On Friday, the Dutchman struggled with problems, which meant he could only drive a few laps in the first two free practice sessions. So a long run was not in the cards either, but the same goes for the rest of the drivers. "Nobody has a clear picture for the race, so that makes it interesting and exciting," Verstappen concludes.
