Important weekend for De Vries: 'Historically this is our thing'

Nyck de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne are gearing up for an important weekend in Formula E. The Double Header in Berlin is next on the program and for the two Mercedes drivers it is an important moment in the season.
De Vries falls back
For the reigning world champion, the season is not yet going as expected. De Vries won the first race of the season in Diriyah, but since then has not finished in the top five. A retirement, a fourteenth and a tenth place ensured that he is now only eighth in the championship. In the last race in Monaco, he finished tenth.
''It's good to get back to racing after a difficult weekend in Monaco. In my opinion, we had a good weekend in terms of pace, but didn't manage to convert that into points. The circuit in Berlin has historically been good for us and I myself have good memories of it'', says the Dutchman in his team's preview.
Championship leader Vandoorne
In that respect, the roles within the team are reversed this year, as Vandoorne is first in the championship with 81 points. He won the ePrix in Monaco and was on the podium twice before that. The Belgian hopes to do this year what De Vries managed to do in 2021: become world champion. For that, Berlin is an important weekend.
''We have always done well here in Berlin. I've already scored some podium finishes and scored my first win here in the FE. However, it's also a track where things can go wrong if you don't get your car in the right window. If we do manage to do that, we should be competitive and hopefully leave with a lot of points'', concludes the former F1 driver.
