Max Verstappen won the Spanish Grand Prix, but Lewis Hamilton was named Driver of the Day by viewers worldwide. Do GPblog readers think the Mercedes driver deserves the honorary title, or will it go to someone else?

The results are in: Lewis Hamilton has become the GPblog Driver of the Day with a staggering 50 percent of the votes. This came after an astonishing comeback drive from the seven-time champion who, after contact with Magnussen on the opening lap, drove his way from 19th all the way to 5th place.

Verstappen and Hamilton above the rest

Max Verstappen also scores well with 17 percent of the votes. The Dutchman drove a very strong race after suffering from an spin early on, starting from P2. Later he took over the lead from George Russell after an intense battle and went on to win the Grand Prix. This means that the 2021 title rivals rank first and second on the poll.

Russell is also doing well with 12 percent of the vote. The Mercedes driver already qualified well, but also stood his ground during the race. He fended off the attacks of Verstappen, who increased the pressure on the Brit despite problems with his DRS. Alonso received 9 percent of the votes after an equally good race, in which the local hero came back from P20 to P9.
