Sergio Perez managed to secure his first victory of the season at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Mexican started the race from third place, but after a hectic initial phase he still took the win.
After the GP, Perez was on hand to talk to Viaplay about race day. The first question was logically about Perez's possible contract. While Red Bull had previously indicated that the team would not tie the knot until next summer, the driver inadvertently let slip to Christian Horner that the contract had already been signed.
Surprised Perez after question about contract extension
Perez was clearly shocked when he was asked the question but then decided not to retract his words. He went on to discuss the race, being very satisfied with the result achieved. According to the driver, it was an important victory for the battle in the world championship.
"I'm super happy and very satisfied with the team. It's a great day for myself, my family and my country," said Perez, who had a tough race behind him. "I gave my life today. It was fun to entertain the people."
